so i'm addicted to house porn. well before we ever started looking for a house i was watching house hunters and hgtv. i would also frequent assorted online real estate sites. when were where looking at houses i would go online and look to see if anything new had been listed multiple times a day. i would also look at the million dollar homes and even homes that were just out of our price range. on occasion i would be chatting with a friend from college on facebook (hi colleen) and i would send her the links to the million dollar homes. she told me i was sending her house porn. now i know i'm not the only one out there who is addicted to house porn. don't all speak up at once... so anyway, last week my husband and i were having a discussion about a set he had worked on. (he builds sets for tv shows) he was referencing something and so of course i googled it. sadly i could find no real pictures of the set although i did find tons of video. i just don't really have the p

lately i keep hearing baby got back on the radio a lot and not even on the the old school rap station (which fyi i LOVE except they play opp too much) so late night i'm driving home from work and there's nothing better on the radio so i have to leave baby go back on... driving in complete silence until at the top of my lungs MY ANACONDA DON'T WANT NONE UNLESS YOU GOT BUNS HUN then i looked around luckily i was in the car alone only car on the road no one was witness thank gawd yet i feel the need to share that's it... but you know you've done the same thing don't lie

so i have a friend from college, let's call him bob. he's a writer now. (he is also magic, so let's call him magic bob)  he recently sent me a link to a article he had just published (although he mostly writes fiction). its about national novel writing month. it got me inspired to try to write a blog update everyday!! ok, everyday is not really realistic bc i'm kinda boring so once a week. yeah, i can do that!! CHALLENGE ACCEPTED! then i did nothing. i suck. so here i can trying to make up for it now and even sharing the link to magic bob's article! you should check it out. and maybe even try to write a little something everyday or at least once a week! you still have over half a month yet. as a matter of fact, so do it. now i need to take my own advice. and mentally writing s blog update does not count unless it is typed and posted for all to see! and actually i should have some recipes coming up to share, as we are hosting our thanksgiving in out new house!!

this time last year i was sitting numb and tired in baba and dedo's living room. i had just spent the night flying in from la and with 2 delayed flights i was tired to begin with...and baba had just passed away. i can't believe its been a year already. its so weird to think of where i was at this point last year and where i am now. i'm now married and have a house with my awesome husband. last year we were enagaged (for a mere 2 years..) but hadn't starting planning anything wedding-wise, and we had been house hunting for about 5 months with a few submitted but rejected offers. i'm now sitting in our house that we've had for only 5 months! a lot can happen in a year, and it did. i just wish that baba had been around to be at my wedding, although i'm sure her and mom-mom were together watching over the day. that's the only way to explain the perfect weather and how everything managed to some together even when it looked like traffic might ruin the day..

we did it!! got married yesterday... blogging to resume in a bit now that this wedding insanity is over...

well the kitchen wound up more pyramid gold than retro avocado...it was more of a time crunch and the avocado paint didn't come out as well as we would have liked. plus to do the cabinets would have meant sanding and paint not just painting. i'm not so much about sanding...but i have some before and after pictures of where we are right now. BEFORE so... here's what we've done so far.. put in a floating cork floor over the existing tile (actually my dad installed it for us)  (that's dad's feet right there...THANKS DAD!!!) i painted the walls pyramid gold which was on of the original colors we chose to go with the retro avocado i was painting the cabinets.. (that's my future hubby) then mom and i went to home depot and some how she talked me into getting a new sink. its HUGE then there were stove issues. we hooked up the stove and smelled gas. so we got a new hose, but we couldn't get the regulater  (or something like that) off. here'

it can take very little to make someone feel like an asshole or put in there place for the right reason. last nite i was at target. i stopped there to use the bathroom (as rob was tiling the floor and had to take out the toilet), to get snacks for a movie, and to get cash to give to marcie since she bought the movie tickets on-line. (sex and the city 2 the second nite it was open..we weren't taking a chance of it being sold out- which it was smart cuz when we got there at 9:40 for a 10:30 show it was sold out). so i'm running through target  bc it was crowded for 9:30 on a thursday nite. i cut through the clothes department to get around slow people (fyi- people in la and the la area walk SLOW!!)  the upstairs line was long so i went downstairs to pay. i'm headed for the beacon of light- a cashier with only one person in their line!! then a guy with a cart half cuts me off. so of course i roll my eyes. they he's like you can go. and i'm like that's right cuz yo

so yes its been almost a month since i've shared the house with anyone we were supposed to get keys on may 4 originally so my parents booked a flight to come out and help us fix and move!  so dad was coming on may 4 to knock out some big stuff like the bathroom and mom was coming on may 8 since my vacation didn't start until may 9 (which was also mother's day so i thought it would be nice to give my mom a paint brush for mother's day-jk). so nice of them until we got the call the there was a court issue and we would not get keys until may 7. so mom looked into changing dad's to may 8 to fly with her and it just didn't make sense money-wise. so dad was going to get some quality time with rob that did not involve working on a house. so dad comes in and on may 5 he goes with me to sign the escrow paperwork!! then we find out that we are not getting keys on may 7- that is the final day for the court confirmation! we are not going to get the keys until probably may

so i've been going a little schizophrenic lately house house house wedding wedding wedding house house work (i had to write performance reviews) house house wedding wedding house getting the feeling? so i wasn't going to post any pictures until we closed but its been pushed back twice now and i'm dying to share what we're doing!! so we were supposed to close in 30 days which means we would currently be fixing in preparation for move-in! then the governator passed a ca state first time home buyer tax credit! but you had to close after may 1. we figured the potential to get $10,000 was worth a week! except may 1 is a saturday so closing became may 4. then the probate court assessor said our house was worth $40,000 more than we were paying...ummm-what?? the estate was all like hells to the no! there's deferred maintenance and all sorts of crap and we're ready to close so the court lowered the price, but there is court paperwork that has to happpen.

so.. a lot has happened in the past month. we found a house, and we'll be closing on may 4th!! we went back to the east coast for a family visit and to become godparents to the little ball of pudge ryan! (my brother's second kid) AND!! we finally set a date for our wedding!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! july 31 yes this year not next! yes we know it only gives us 3 months to plan a cross country wedding and close on our house and get some basic stuff fixed and move i'm getting tired just thinking of it but the good news it it will be a backyard bar-b-q low key wedding like us unless my mom does something crazy (please don't i know you are reading this) i will not be a bride-zilla but there is a slight chance for a mom-zilla i get the fact that i am her only daughter and she's excited but i am not one of those girls that has been planning my wedding forever i'm currently focused on planning the house the house!!! i can't wait to post pictures,

its been barely even three weeks since we saw our future home! after our our offer was accepted and we opened escrow its been a whirlwind of activity!! we found out we were closing in 30 days!! we had the home inspection we had a sewer scope we locked our mortgage rate we found out that we still qualify for the 2009 first time home buyers credit! we had a termite inspection we got a partial credit for the termite inspection we found out that ca signed a state first time home buyers credit we pushed closing back a week to qualify for the ca home buyer credit! (we have to close after may 1) we get daily emails from either our real estate agent, her assistant, our mortgage broker, or one of the many people who has done some kind of inspection on the house we got our appraisal we found out our appraisal came in low :( we had a true miracle happen the sellers agreed to drop the price of the house to the appraisal price which by the way is just a smidge lower than what our or

the other nite i had a dream...or its possible i was awake and thinking then drifted off to sleep. i had mentally written an entire update that was dry, wry, and humorous (like my updates normally are, RIGHT?!?!) when i woke up i had no idea what i had mentally written, just that i had done it...so i figured i'd just tell you that... it might had had something to do with our abysmal continuing house hunt...our most recent prey is a house 2 door away from us! how awesome would that be?? its laid out just like ours..duplex. we only got to see the front unti, which is what we live in already so it was like a vacant version of out house! just wish we could have seen the back unit! its a probate sale and laws for probates in california are a pain in the ass!! it requires court confirmation..oh and we put in our offer over 2 figgin weeks ago and they still have not gotten back to us. so the house hunt continues... i hate the real estate market in southern california... we have been

so in my daily perusing and re-perusing on the internets for a house i came across this gem !! i love that the house is blue and the walls are blue and the trim is blue and the bathroom counter is blue but my FAVORITE is the blue toilet surrounded by blue tile walls!!! i wonder why the floors aren't blue though??

we bought a pummelo it was huge. we cut it open it was a huge disappointment there is sooo much skin probably should have found out what it was before i bought it guess we'll stick to oranges...
