Life has changed

I know I know...I said a few years ago I was going to write more... then I didn't.
  Well things have changed.
I mean really really changed.
The mr and I had a baby! The little man is going to be 1 in a few days.  So that really changes life.
I was very lucky that I was able to take 6 months maternity leave from my job! Then when I went back to work mom and dad put their life on hold and came out from the east coast for 6 months.
I also got lucky that my first day back ( as a retail manager) was the day after the day after Christmas! I missed all of the holidays, so that was an extra bonus.

The next step was trying to find a day care that could work with my schedule, which is different every week and I find it out 2 weeks in advance. This proved to be extremely difficult. My work has a life assistance program and I called them several times to try to source day cares. They came back with a list of about 4 each time that didn't 100% meet our criteria. So I called those places and from there we found 2 that would work with the hours we needed. Then we went to see them and they were not places that we would ever leave little man. Ever!

So, mom and dad went back to the east coast and the mr took his California State Paid Family Leave.  I love that we both got to take bonding time with little man! The hunt for day care continued, to no avail.

So I gave my 2 weeks notice at a retail company I had worked at for 14 years and 9 months. So that is the final big change. As of a few days ago  I am not a stay at home mom. Or as the mr likes to say I'm a housewife. We were actually watching the new season of Fargo last night and there was a scene where the guy comes home and his wife takes his jacket off of him and put a sweater on him. The mr said I could do that for him now.... we'll see about that.

But anyhoo...now that my job is staying home with little man I plan to write more. I figure I'll need to keep my mind sharp since little man isn't much of a stimulating conversationalist yet. I mean he sure is trying to talk, but he just sounds like the Swedish chef.
So my plans are to try to write hopefully once a week. We'll see how that goes since I've been writing this post mentally for over a week and physically I started 3 times but forgot to his save so everything I did disappeared. (I've been spoiled by google docs and its auto save!)

So the plan of things to write about:
-things I don't miss about retail -there was a reoccurring joke at the end of my employment about all the things I wouldn't miss and I think a lot of retail employees both current and non-current will appreciate my list
-mom stuff- I mean I am a mom now so technically everything is mom stuff now, but I mean more the stuff that relates to little man
- recipes- I still love to bake and cook and I'm sure I'll be doing it way more often now
-generally things that strike my fancy...

Well the mr just got little man down for a nap so  we are going to try and watch last weeks Dr Who while we can.
