rejected again!
it's hard to be positive. it's hard to not get all depressed. our third and a half attempt at putting an offer on a house has been rejected yet again.
but "it's a buyer's market" and " now is the time to buy"
don't believe this bullshit
this is from the banks that are trying to create a hype over the foreclosed houses that they are slowly dribbling onto the market so that that can instigate bidding wars from the frustrated wanna-be first time home buyers.
we have been looking online for well over a year
we started out looking at houses via two different web based agencies, if you can call them that
the first web based guy was creepy. do\id my research online and i knew more about the house than he did. but we still used him to show us a few different houses.
then we also ventured into the second web based agency. they definitely have the better site- more user friendly, they use a google map that you can move around on so if you don't know neighborhoods or zip codes its very very helpful!!
so we got off to a good start with these guys- better houses but a but more of a pain in the ass to schedule. and they had different people showing you each house so it wasn't like you had an agent.
then it happened. i remember it vividly.
it was that saturday of memorial day weekend. colleen was visiting us!! we went to see a house and colleen came with us. it was awesome. we needed to think about it. we thought. we decided yes! so we clicked on the link to submit an offer. they would not be in the office until tuesday since it was a holiday weekend. boo! so we waited.
tuesday i went to work. when i went on my lunch break at 2:30ish i had a voicemail from previously mentioned website saying they needed all offers submitted by 3pm that day. uhhh..that wasn't going to happen.
fuck.
that was our half offer.
that was also the day we decided to get a real agent. our thought was that a real agent would have knowledge that the needed all offers by 3pm tuesday and would have been able to get the ball rolling instead of not knowing anything about anything.
so we got a real agent. she's awesome. its the market that sucks.
the first house we bid on was a short sale
if you don't know what a short sale it, its actually a long and tedious process that is a pre-foreclosure. supposedly we are a back up offer for the short sale, but they still haven't closed on the house yet and the listing agent won't return our agents calls so we have not idea what's up with that
(side bar- anyone been watching saturday nite live? keenen's "what up with dat?" sketch?? wooooo-eeeeeee... what up with dat? what up with dat? FUNNY!)
house #2--> asking price 255. we offer 285. they accepted an offer over 300.
house #3--> asking price 300. not worth it. we offer 290. we get countered for best and final offer in a multiple offer situation. we think this means we're in the running! we counter at 305. they accept 350.
bullshit!
even our agent agrees that the house was not worth that much and we put in a solid offer. back to the drawing board.
its really hard not to get frustrated. a lot of the decent houses we try to see already have offers before we can even get to see them. i don't get it.
the hunt continues...
